Q: Can my employer fund Chief of Staff training?

Yes, and increasingly they do, because a Chief of Staff who has been developed deliberately delivers more for the leadership team from the start. For EAs and PAs preparing for the transition, the case is often strongest when framed as succession planning: the organisation is building the capability it will need rather than recruiting it externally. The Action Plan Mapping session is designed partly for this, giving you the language to hold that conversation with your executive. If you need help making the case, our free employer funding guide covers timing, framing and the email to send. Download Guide >

Q: Is the coaching suitable if I am already a Chief of Staff?

Yes. 1:1 Chief of Staff Coaching is designed as much for people in their first Chief of Staff role as for EAs preparing for the move. The Chief of Staff role is still relatively new in UK organisations, which means many people in it are doing excellent work without a clear framework or a peer who understands the terrain. Coaching with Jemma focuses on what is actually happening in your organisation now: the stakeholders, decisions, projects and grey areas you are dealing with this month. If you are an established Chief of Staff looking for peers rather than coaching, register your interest in the Chief of Staff Networking Group, which is being built for practising Chiefs of Staff only.

Q: Do I have to take the Readiness Assessment first?

No, but most people should. The Chief of Staff Readiness Assessment is the fastest way to find out where you stand against what organisations look for when they hire a Chief of Staff, and every other programme on this page builds on it. The Report Walkthrough and Action Plan Mapping sessions work directly from your assessment results, so they require it. The Development Programme, 1:1 Chief of Staff Coaching and the CV and LinkedIn Positioning Review can be booked on their own if you already know what you need. If you are unsure, book a free Discovery Call and we will tell you honestly whether to start with the assessment.

Q: Who delivers the Chief of Staff programmes?

Every eavolve® Chief of Staff programme is led by Jemma Edwards-Carne, our Chief of Staff Training Partner and a practising Chief of Staff. Jemma made the EA to Chief of Staff transition herself, progressing from reception to Executive Assistant to Chief of Staff, and has worked as a strategic partner to C-suite executives in fast-growth and global organisations. She reviews every Readiness Assessment personally, runs the 1:1 sessions and delivers the Development Programme. The programmes were designed with Emily Partridge, eavolve®’s Managing Director and Creator, who spent 15 years as a senior EA in FTSE 100 organisations before managing 60 EAs globally. You are learning from someone doing the role now, not someone who has studied it.
